Good afternoon…’s another magic day in Port Douglas!

Wasn’t it a terrific atmosphere at The Reef Marina yesterday? Great weather, school holiday makers, the Pacific Dawn cruise ship in town, marina markets in full swing and the soulful sounds of Ms T and her guitar.

The marina is full and our Elize is doing an admirable job of juggling arrivals and departures. For our casual customers, please keep us posted on your plans as we currently have a waiting list.

The Reef Marina upgrade program continues at pace. Our handy team is at the halfway mark in the (long overdue) waler replacement program for Rows A & B. They’ve also been swinging the sledgehammers within Shop 50 (end of the retail centre, adjacent to the Ballyhooley Station) which is being converted into sparkling new toilet, shower and laundry facilities. Our dream is that the new amenities will rate a mention on Trip Advisor for the right reasons!

The new fuel systems will be commissioned during October. Our fuel dock is now located on the western side of Row C, allowing better access for our larger vessels. Flow rates will be substantially faster than before, and card payment readers will allow for extended fueling hours. The old underground fuel tanks are currently being excavated and are due to be removed within coming days.

Portoberfest is next Saturday 4th October at Lure Restaurant and along the boardwalk. Don your favourite lederhosen and join us from 1pm for a pils, pale or porter, live music and wenches.

The big game fish are running! A number of large marlin have been tagged and released over the past few weeks. You can follow all the action at

Also, The Reef Marina is a proud sponsor of the 2014 Port Douglas Marlin Challenge held November 5th- 9th.  The Port Douglas Marlin Challenge is one of the premier heavy tackle tournaments in Australia. For entry details please visit

And three cheers for the Port Douglas Artists group for the amazing shop front displays within the retail centre. In conjunction with our marina sunset markets, the artists have a meet and greet session each Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm so come and pow wow on perspectives, palettes, proportions and proto-renaissance.

Welcome to our new arrivals at The Reef Marina. We’ve got some magnificent game boats in town for the fishing season, including Revive, a giant Bertram 70; and Gorilla, the beautiful Assegai 47.

Congratulations to Sharon and Rick of Uplift Watersports who are now offering solo or tandem parasailing along Four Mile Beach aboard The Duck. A shout-out also to Jay from ABC Scuba who conducts scuba and snorkeling trips for families and small groups – see

Finally, a congratulations to Kellie on taking over Lure Restaurant. Don’t forget….. Portoberfest next Saturday 4th.

Pip pip!
