Good afternoon from The Reef Marina at beautiful (and sunny) Port Douglas
Here’s a quick update on what’s happening…
GM Rob Cruz and the team are making great progress with marina improvement works. I’m thrilled that part of the Dicksons Inlet foreshore has been cleared and landscaped, and we now have unobstructed views across the Coral Sea and towards the Daintree. What a spectacular part of the world!
The lawn area is an inviting chill-out spot, and we already have our first wedding ceremony planned!
Can you spot the difference?
The Reef Marina has committed to dredging the marina fairways, channels and ‘duck pond’ area to improve utility for our boating customers.Works are expected to start next week and will take about two months. We will work with the dredge operator, Hall Contracting, to minimize inconvenience and disruption to marine operations. Most boats will need to be temporarily relocated elsewhere in the marina and we will contact boat owners individually if and when this is required.
I am told that it’s been 15 years or so since large scale dredging of the marina was undertaken, so you can reclaim your aviator sunglasses and ‘brick’ mobile phones from the marina office. We expect to have a range of abandoned anchors, shopping trolleys and dive tanks available also.
WHAT’S COMING UP?
We are dusting off our samba gear and getting right into the Carnivale spirit. The marina will be hosting the Seafood Extravaganza on 25th May which will feature culinary delights prepared by some of Port Douglas’ finest restaurants, fresh seafood, live entertainment and a kids’ entertainment area. Come and enjoy the party!
The Reef Marina Sunset Markets are back! Join us every Wednesday 2 – 7pm for a bevvy, sunset views and great market stalls offering arts & crafts, jewellery, handicrafts and more… The markets are now being coordinated by our own Amanda Haines (email:firstname.lastname@example.org).
Finally, Laurie and the team from Santiego will be selling fresh prawns off the trawler throughout the Easter weekend.
A huge congratulations to Steve and Katrina Edmondson on the arrival of their new baby; in this instance a Lagoon 50 catamaran – Sailaway V. Congratulations also upon the opening of the shiny new Sailaway booking office and Low Isles Lounge.
