Port Douglas is the gateway to the world’s largest coral reef system, the Great Barrier Reef. One of the natural wonders of the world and listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site, the Great Barrier Reef is comprised of about 2,900 separate reefs stretched over 2,600 kilometers.
The clear, warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef support a vast biodiversity including over 1,500 species of fish, 400 species of coral and 30 species of whale. Surprisingly, more than 200 types of bird visit the reef!
